Veterinary practitioner – Transborder veterinary practice

Competence for the procedure lies with the Österreichische Tierärztekammer ( → ÖTK ) ^{German text}

Costs according to the Tarifordnung of the Österreichischen Tierärztekammer will accrue.

There are no specific deadlines to be met; however the notification has to take place before taking up veterinary practice.

Furthermore, it has to be observed that the notification thereof has to be renewed for each calendar year during which the veterinary activity from across national boundaries will be practised in Austria.

Nationals of signatories to the EEA -agreement and Switzerland who are entitled to take up practice as veterinarians in these states may practise their profession in Austria also from across national boundaries. When doing so the following has to be taken into account:

• When practising their profession in Austria they need to carry along and present to the public supervisors upon their request, a document issued by the authorities of the country where they set up their practice certifying that they practise their profession in the country of practise lawfully.
• With regard to the activities carried out in Austria these persons are subject to the disciplinary judicature of the Austrian Veterinary Chamber [ Österreichische Tierärztekammer] .
• Before starting their veterinary activity – and at least once a year – they have to inform the Österreichische Tierärztekammer in writing for the purpose of r egistration in the veterinary list and provide them with the abovementioned document which, at this occasion, must not be older than twelve months.

Certificate issued by the authorities of the country where they set up their practice certifying that they practise their profession in the country of practise lawfully. At the time of submission it must not be older than twelve months .
